As an international first-year student, I experienced the challenges of navigating my college campus without a detailed tour. The existing college website lacked the accessibility and functionality needed to find and attend classes efficiently, with some important buildings missing from the map. To address these issues, I developed an Android app that revolutionizes the campus navigation experience.

My app provides a user-friendly interface with a scrollable list view and a searchable bar, allowing users to easily locate essential places on campus. When a place is selected from the list, the app utilizes the Google Maps API to geolocate the area and provide prompt and accurate routes from the user's current location. This streamlined approach eliminates the inconvenience of accessing a separate website for each search.

Beyond basic functionality, I aimed to make the app sustainable and environmentally friendly. To encourage the use of eco-friendly transportation alternatives, the app includes features such as displaying the locations of public transportation, bike racks, and water fountains. Additionally, users receive positive reinforcement and compliments for choosing sustainable modes of transportation, creating a positive impact on both the environment and user behavior.

Looking ahead, I am determined to expand the app's capabilities to provide even more value to students and the campus community. My vision is to incorporate transit information, on-campus services, news and events, and available jobs, making the app a comprehensive resource for all aspects of campus life. By continuing to innovate and prioritize sustainability, I aim to create a lasting impact on campus accessibility and enhance the lives of students at my college and beyond.

In my ongoing efforts to improve the campus map app, I am focusing on implementing an enhanced bus schedules system. This enhancement is crucial as it addresses the growing issue of unreliable bus timings, ensuring that students and staff can rely on the PVTA bus system for punctual transportation to classes, meetings, and other important engagements.
